All town and parish councils are required to maintain an effective internal audit. For the smallest councils this may be carried out by a suitably knowledgeable local parishioner whereas, other Councils may want to have the the services of an experienced local Clerk or an Audit firm.
I am CiLCA-qualified and have been a Parish Clerk for smaller Parishes since 2011. My role as your internal auditor will be to be your ‘critical friend’. I will look through your Parish’s processes and procedures and, where necessary will make recommendations which, I hope, will help improve your Council’s working. Some of the recommendations will be long-term goals whereas others may need to be implemented more quickly, but I am available as part of the Audit process to help guide you through what is needed.
